Education Alchemists Ltd is formed on the lifelong work of Professor Gilly Salmon, seeking to advance learning practices & achievements. She is joined in the practice by a Visual Artist, Human Resource practitioner and a Digital Events Manager. Our focus is on the transformation of Learning & Teaching, & enabling organisational development, informed by extensive research, publications and practice.
The Team
Professor Gilly Salmon, PhD, PFHEA, NTF. is CEO & Principal Consultant. She has 30 years’ experience at senior levels, in universities in the UK and Australia. She has initiated, strategized, implemented & completed significant institutional change. Her experience & background includes the UK Open University as well as Associate Dean (Online) & Pro Vice-Chancellor roles in research-intensive and in vocational institutions.
Gilly is now an Adjunct Professor at Swinburne University of Technology Melbourne, Australia, & Visiting Professor at the Universities of Law, Derby, & Edge Hill University, UK.
Rod Angood, BA, MBA. is MD & Principal Visioning Director. Previously he held senior roles as Executive Director of Information Technology & Information Systems at two UK universities. His first career was as a Royal Naval Officer in the Submarine Service. He brings extensive experience of leadership development, strategy & organisation. Rod is now an established Graphic Artist providing ‘Artist in Residence’ services to Carpe Diem & Futuring workshops, supporting keynote speeches with real time artistic images, & academics with pictures & diagrams that explore concepts, ideas & models. Emily Holst, BA, MA, MCIPD. is Director and HR Consultant. She has twenty years of experience of HR in Higher & Further Education, leisure, charity & retail sectors. She has specialist experience in employee relations, learning & development, & remote working for staff & tutors. She has a Masters in Human Resources Management, & Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. She is qualified as a Civil & Commercial Mediator, Level 5 Award in Learning and Development: Designing & Developing Digital & Blended Learning Solutions & as a Mental Health First-aider.
Paula Brooke BA is the Director & Producer of the Education Alchemists YouTube Channel. Her degree is in Theatre. Her career is as a stage and company manager in live theatre, including Phantom of the Opera, The Bodyguard & Mamma Mia! in the West End of London & on tour throughout the world. Many of you who met Paula online during the pandemic might be interested to know she is now Company & Stage Manager of 'The Mousetrap' - in its 71st year in London, but still advising us all on experiential learning and audience engagement . She brings her unique set of design & organization skills to our workshops, ensuring that our audience gets the very best from engagement experiences.
