Speakers:

Experiential Induction for Scaling Remote Teaching and Learning
Margaret Korosec, University of Derby, UK.

In 2020, the University of Derby mobilised cross-functional teams to create an experiential staff induction to support the shift to off-campus digital learning. Specialists in online learning joined with the campus pedagogic practice group to co-create a bespoke, one-week, facilitated online course aimed at supporting campus academics in their teaching practice. The foundation of the course revolved around agreed baselines to support the shift to off-campus digital learning. This presentation outlines the collaboration that enabled rapid response to prepare the induction and the approach to scaling the facilitation in a short period of time.
Crossing the Chasm: Digitalising professional development and collaborative learning design
Prof Gilly Salmon., Education Alchemists & Visiting Professor, University of Derby.

From June 2020, Education Alchemists was set up to provide immediate support for all those pivoting to online and blended learning and teaching. It attracted universities and colleges already familiar with Prof Salmon’s work- including Carpe Diem learning design, 5 stage model, storyboarding and e-tivities, and those discovering the concepts and practice for the first time. Prof Salmon offers the hindsight, insights foresight from this experience, and practical notes on sustainability and quality for the future.
